I received a B.Sc. and D.D.S. degree from McGill University. I then continued my post graduate training at the Goldman School of Graduate Dentistry in Boston. I am a certified Specialist in Periodontics and Implantology since 1989. Currently, I am an associate professor and Past Director of the Division of Periodontics of McGill University Dental School while maintaining a private practice specializing in bone regeneration, aesthetic periodontal surgery and implant dentistry.
Dedicated to teaching and excellence, I am also involved with continuing dental education worldwide. My passion for periodontology and teaching have awarded me the W.W. Wood Award for Excellence in Dental Education, the 2005 Educator Award from the AAP and the 2009 Howard Katz Award for Excellence in Teaching.
I belong to many professional organizations including the Canadian and American Academies of Periodontology. I am a Fellow of the American College of Dentistry, the ITI (International Team of Implantology), the Academie Dentaire Internationale and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. I am also a past President of the Quebec Periodontal Association. Curently, I am the co-director of the Montreal ITI study club and President of the Fédération des dentistes spécialistes du Québec. I am involved in several clinical research projects involving implant surgery, photodynamic therapy and the use of lasers in periodontology which keep me stimulated and up to date.
Through the fondations Kindness in Action and Change for Children, I have been able to give something back to the world! I have been organizing and participating in dental humanitarian missions for over 12 years and each trip has brought its share of emotions and inspiration. Our team has now grown and each year our group gets larger including dental students, hygienists and much needed non-dental volunteers. The quantity of patients we have treated for free over the years is staggering, several thousands now!
